Short Biography:
Dr. Mohammad Hamdan received his PhD from Heriot-Watt University/UK in 2000. His PhD thesis title was "A Framework for Parallel Programming Using Algorithmic Skeletons". He also obtained an MSc in Knowledge Based Systems from same university in 1994. Both degrees
were supported by a grant from British Council. Since February 2000 he has been working as an Assistant Professor in the department of computer science. In September 2002 he became the assistant dean in the faculty of information technology. In September 2005 he became the chairman of Computer Science Department. He is a senior member in IEEE. Since January 2002 he became the Activity Secretary for Jordan IEEE executive committee and in May 2006 he became the chair for IEEE Computer/Computational Intelligence Chapter in Jordan http://ewh.ieee.org/r8/jordan/.
Worked as project coordinator for TEMPUS JEP project (http://www.it.yu.edu.jo/tempus/) . Also he is the programme coordinator for joint MSc programmes between Yarmouk and Sunderland Universities http://www.it.yu.edu.jo/joint_page.htm
His research interests are algorithm engineering for optimisation, parallel processing, genetic algorithms, swarm intelligence, multi-objective optimisation and parallelisation of metaheuristics.
